1 All solar capacities are reported in MWac. China’s wind capacity follows a similar rate of growth as solar, according to Global Energy Monitor’s Global Wind Power Tracker, with over 590 GW in prospective phases — nearly 530 GW of onshore capacity and 63 GW of offshore capacity.
In 2021, the cumulative installed capacity of offshore wind power was 26.39 GW, with 16.9 GW newly installed (Chen, 2011; Liu et al., 2021). As a key field of renewable energy in China, offshore wind power will enter a new development period during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and its development will enter a new stage.
In terms of wind and PV power development modes: centralized and decentralized development, land and sea development, nearby and external development, multi-energy complementation, single and multi-scene development will be the direction of the future.
