The country’s first four large-scale grid-connected storage projects have attracted significant interest, with more than 20 companies submitting over 30 proposals.

Large-scale solar projects in Malaysia are mostly made up of other projects that are still in the planning stages. The Malaysian government said in October 2022 that a power purchase agreement for large-scale PV would be extended from 21 to 25 years.
The government has announced a tender for 500MW of new solar projects in Peninsular Malaysia. The project entails solar parks ranging in size from 1-100 MW and is expected to raise around RM2 billion in investments. We expect the existing solar players and some potential new players to participate in the bidding.
